Convenient Care Clinics

How It Works

Staff
Medcor partners with business entities to establish their own branded Convenient Care Clinics. Medcor uses mid-level providers—nurse practitioners and/or physician assistants—to deliver Convenient Care Clinic services. These medical professionals offer a valuable balance of service and cost. They provide a broad range of clinical care. Collaborating with local physicians, and supported with Medcor’s clinical guidelines, mid-level providers can effectively address many of the simple medical needs of most consumers.

Scope of Care

With Convenient Care Clinics, consumers receive care for acute illnesses, including strep throat, ear infections, colds, minor orthopedic injuries, and minor infections. Mid-level providers perform minor diagnostic and treatment procedures, including suturing, abscess drainage, and minor skin lesion removal as well as prescription-writing. Travel medicine and preventative medicine (such as vaccinations) and occupational health (such as specimen collection for drug testing) can also be incorporated in the scope of care.

Why It Works

Consumers are attracted to Convenient Care Clinics for many reasons:
  • The clinics have hours of service when physician offices are typically closed (evenings, weekends, and holidays).
  • No appointments are necessary.
  • Service is quick (limited waiting).
  • Published charges are easy to understand.
  • Charges are lower than typical physician offices for addressing routine acute medical conditions.
