Are excuses holding you back from finding your fitness groove? It’s harder to get the recommended 150 minutes of exercise every week if you focus only on reasons to avoid working out.
Outsmart your excuses with these tips.
The Excuse: I Don’t Have Time.
Overcome it: You don’t always have to schedule exercise. If you take public transportation, get off a stop early and walk to your destination. Take the stairs whenever possible. Daily chores, such as walking your dog, count as exercise, too.
The Excuse: Joining A Gym Is Too Expensive.
Overcome it: There are many ways to exercise on a budget, without a gym. Power walk around your neighborhood, or use large water bottles as free weights. Explore your local park district’s trails, parks, and free workout programs.
The Excuse: I’m Not Athletic Enough.
Overcome it: Consider hobbies that involve movement, such as gardening, hiking, or volunteering. If you are overweight or out of shape, start slow by walking 15 minutes a day.
