Mount Everest

The highest altitude clinic in the world is the base camp clinic on Mount Everest, run by Dr. Luanne Freer, Medcor’s Associate Medical Director. Medcor supports this seasonal operation, which Dr. Freer founded in 2003 with the Himalayan Rescue Association. The clinic’s mission is to reduce casualties due to high-altitude sickness in the Himalayas and to provide medical care for the native Sherpa people. The clinic can see more than 100 patients a day at peak times.

The clinic staff also provides valuable education to native medical providers along the rural route leading to Mount Everest.
