Things to Do (When You Don’t Know What to Do)

By Stephanie Mader, Medcor Advocate | Comments are Closed | 1 April, 2020 0

There’s a lot of wisdom behind the old adage “When life hands you lemons, make lemonade,” especially in regard to minding our happiness. But at times when we seem to have too many lemons for an adequate lemonade recipe, the best advice may be to make small batches.

Put another way, breaking things down into small, achievable goals for ourselves can help make a lot of sourness much more palatable. You know, one day at a time.

So, what are small, achievable goals that you can set for yourself? Here are some ideas. Keep in mind, though, a whole list of even small goals can feel pretty big. Try setting (and achieving!) just one goal at a time.

    • Finish that scrapbook you started three years ago.
    • Start to learn how to code.
    • Implement a home exercise routine.
    • Read a book. Or write one. Everyone has a story to tell.
    • Learn new phrases in a foreign language.
    • Learn how to play chess.
    • Write a letter to a friend. Yes, using a pen and paper.
    • Do your spring cleaning.
    • Plant a garden.
    • Create a work of art. Or, for the less artistically inclined, fill in an adult coloring book.
    • Practice solfege.
    • Satisfy your inner crafter with unusual DIYs or guy DIYs.
    • Create a happy music mix.
    • Plan a menu and make dinner. All the courses. Don’t forget the lemonade.
